**Spend your summer assisting our team in fisheries management activities, learning from experienced mentors and travelling Nuu-chah-nulth territory - all while getting paid.**

**Who we are**:Uu-a-thluk is the fisheries program of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council

**Location**: Port Alberni, BC
**Term**: June 2025 | for up to 12 weeks
**Pay**: $22/hour | 35 hours/week
**Travel Required**: Yes (vehicle, boat & sometimes flights)

**What You'll Do**
This internship gives you hands-on experience in real-world fisheries work. You’ll support our team with:

- Salmon, groundfish and shellfish monitoring
- Data collection and entry
- Helping with research, fieldwork and report writing
- Working on the water and in the office

**What We're Looking For**:
You don’t need to be an expert — just eager to learn and ready to dive in
- Age **18-30** (funding requirement)
- Interested in **Fisheries or Natural Resource Management**:

- Familiarity with **Nuu-chah-nulth culture & fisheries** a big plus
- Comfortable on boats and in/around water
- Able to travel (sometimes overnight)
- Decent fitness (you might be hiking a bit or lifting gear)
- Writing and good communication skills
- Able to work solo or with a team
- Driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Provide acceptable criminal record check

Contract length: 12 weeks

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
