**About the MNjcc**: 

The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is a dynamic hub in downtown Toronto. It provides opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to be active, learn, connect and participate in a wide range of cultural experiences. Rooted in Jewish values, the MNjcc is open to all. 

Founded on this site in 1953 the MNjcc is home to a state of the art Fitness Centre, the Al Green Theatre, four schools, four choirs, a wide range of arts and cultural activities, Jewish Life programming, and a robust Active 55+ program. It is a founding member of the Bloor Street Cultural Corridor. 

**Short Description of the Position**: 

Working within the Toddler Childcare program, the Early Childhood Assistant or RECE will work with other educators to observe children and implement a stimulating program for the children, while engaging in open communication with parents and other stakeholders. We are seeking a dynamic RECE or ECA who is looking to join a great team of educators in our Toddler room at a wonderful community centre. 

**Schedule**: 
- Current work shift is 8:30 am-5:00 pm Monday - Friday however flexibility to work between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. is needed as future hours could change.
- Staff must be available for all mandatory ECE staff meetings.  

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**: 
- Provide supervision of children (range from ages 18 months-12 years old). 
- Communicate with educators and management regarding any areas of concern pertaining to the health and safety of children. 
- Get to know each child individually to instill confidence, encourage creativity and cognitive skills, and master social skills.  
- Assist the children with daily routines as required (meals, naps, diapering/toileting, transitions, playground and gym time, during programming time, transitions etc.). 
- Assist with implementing daily programming based on children's needs and interests. 
- Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging environment for all children. 
- Work collaboratively with other educators and building staff. 
- Ensure classroom documents are up-to-date (cleaning logs, attendances, etc.)  
- Performing other related duties as assigned. 

**Qualifications and Requirements**: 
- Have experience/able to work with children 18 months-12 years old. 
- Must be able to legally work in Canada in a childcare setting. 
- Proficient in the English language with speaking, reading and writing. 
- Must have a clear vulnerable sector screening (done within 6 months of start date with us). 
- Must have valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C. 
- Up-to-date medical including Tuberculosis test and immunization history. 
- Knowledge of ELECT and How Does Learning Happen? is an asset. 
- Preference will be given to those with previous experience in Play-Based Learning and/or Child Directed Learning program. 
- Able to provide references. 

**Main Competencies**: 
- Be able to work collaboratively within the team. 

**Salary and Benefits**: 
- ECA starting wage from $16/hour depending on qualifications and experience; RECE starting wage from $19/hour depending on qualifications and experience. Plus, Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant when eligible.
