**Job Summary**:
The Director of Development and Communications will lead the organization’s fundraising and marketing efforts. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing unrestricted fundraising, major gifts, planned giving, and managing the communications and public relations portfolio. The Director will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to build meaningful relationships and advance Autism Nova Scotia’s mission. The position involves leading a professional team of development and communications managers and coordinators, reporting directly to the Executive Director.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Strategic Fund Development**
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fund development strategy aligned with Autism Nova Scotia’s mission and goals.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with major donors, corporate partners, foundations, and community stakeholders to secure significant gifts and sponsorships.
- Create and manage annual fundraising plans with clear objectives, timelines, and performance metrics.

Donor Engagement and Stewardship
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with donors through personalized communication, recognition, and engagement activities.
- Oversee donor acknowledgment processes, ensuring timely and meaningful recognition of contributions.
- Provide strategic support for major gifts campaigns, including the identification of high-value prospects.
- Work with volunteers and board members to maximize campaign reach and impact.
- Develop strategies to increase donor retention and lifetime giving.

**Communications and Stakeholder Relations**
- Oversee the development and implementation of a robust communications plan to support Autism Nova Scotia’s programs, services, and initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.

**Team Leadership and Collaboration**
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Development and Communications department, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
- Work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and volunteers to advance Autism Nova Scotia’s mission and vision.
- Collaborate with program and operations teams to ensure alignment between fundraising efforts and organizational needs.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (CFRE designation is an asset). An equivalent of relevant professional experience is also acceptable.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in non-profit leadership, ideally with a focus on fund development, including major gifts, stakeholder relations, and/or strategic communications.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and cultivating high-value donor relationships.
- Strong understanding of fundraising strategies, donor stewardship, and inclusive communications practices.
- Experience working with major donors and developing long-term partnerships.
