**Primary Purpose of the Role**:
As the **Adult Program Coordinator,**you provide direct leadership to a team of staff, volunteers, and practicums focused on delivering high-quality programs to engage adult members (18+) in achieving their personal, social and recreational goals.

You will join a multidisciplinary leadership team where you will be contributing to more strategic and big-picture tasks.

**Reports to**:
The Program Coordinator, Adult Programs will report to the Director of Operations

**Direct Reports**:
The Program Coordinator, Adult Programs will supervise a team of approximately 12 Social Experience Guides, 4-6 practicum students, and 1-2 volunteers.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- ** Oversight and Implementation**:**Manage the planning and execution of adult programs, ensuring they run smoothly and effectively within the designated timeframe.
- ** Program Management**:Actively manage program participants, catering to their needs and addressing concerns or issues. Coordinate transportation and logistics to ensure a seamless experience for participants throughout the program.
- ** Staff Team Empowerment**: Guide and empower your staff team, including facilitators, practicum students and volunteers, by involving them in decision-making processes and providing necessary support and resources.
- ** Collaboration with Leadership Team**: Collaborate with other leadership team members to determine and address activity and transportation requirements, ensuring a cohesive approach to program management. Further, you will contribute to the leadership strategic plan and larger-picture projects.
- ** Family and Member Communication**:Be the first point of contact for families looking for adult programs and answer questions about programming at AAFS. Follow up with families/caregivers and program members as necessary, promptly addressing any programming-related inquiries or relevant incidents that may occur.
- ** Staff Support**: Support the staff team in handling incidents that may affect the program. Ensure proper completion of paperwork, including reports, and establish communication channels with stakeholders when needed.
- ** Staff Support/Feedback**: Collaborate with the HR department to participate in staff support and feedback meetings, contributing to the team's professional development and well-being.
- ** Staff and Leadership Meetings**: Actively participate in all scheduled staff and leadership meetings, contributing ideas, sharing updates, and fostering a collaborative environment.
- ** Task Delegation**: Prepare task lists for program staff as required, ensuring efficient task delegation and completion.
- ** Additional Duties**:Perform any other duties required to support the successful operation of AAFS.

**Qualifications** _(all requirements of an SEG, in addition to):_
- Formal training in developmental disabilities, mental health or physical literacy through post-secondary education, seminars, or significant work experience
- Have a proven track record of positive, reflective, and constructive discussions with lead team members
- Knowledge of program design, development and evaluation
- Working knowledge of software used by AAFS: Wild Apricot, Break The Barrier, and Google
- Some experience hiring, training staff and facilitating activities through a senior staff role
- Comfortable having difficult conversations with staff/families/community partners
- Driven to create win-win outcomes for staff, members, parents or community partners
- Proven ability to handle changing priorities and flexible work schedules while demonstrating an awareness of deadlines
- Minimum one (1) year in the role of a Social Experience Guide

**Working Conditions**:

- This role is classified as full-time and requires you to spend 6+ hours daily on a computer. You will be expected to work 80% (4 days) on administrative tasks and 10% (1 day) on your program. Occasionally, you will be requested to work evenings and weekends. This is a full-time position requiring 6+ hours of daily computer use. Your schedule will consist of 80% administrative work (4 days per week) and 10% program-specific tasks (1 day per week). Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

**Physical Requirements**:

- You may be required to intervene during aggressive behaviours demonstrated by members—the risk of injury, including bites, bruising due to scratching, hitting, or physical force, etc. A strong understanding of last resort restraint protocol is key.

- You will lead and inspire a diverse team comprising staff members, practicum students, dedicated volunteers, and valued community partners. This leadership role will necessitate your ability to make well-informed and judicious decisions, drawing upon your professional experience and, when necessary, seeking guidance from relevant sources.
