The West Vancouver Memorial Library has an opening for a permanent part time Librarian I position working in the Youth Department working with preschoolers, kids, teens, families, and educators. WVML’s Youth Department is high-functioning, innovative, inclusive and proud to serve the community of West Vancouver. All Librarians in our Youth Department have robust outreach portfolios.

Duties may change based upon operational needs and may include, but are not limited to:

- Provide patrons of all ages with expert and enthusiastic reader’s advisory, research support and instruction at our Youth Department Information Desk and while roving
- Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate and forward-thinking programming, ranging from early years storytimes to middle years and family programs
- Coordinating our popular Teen Volunteer Program (including training and monitoring teen volunteers)
- Representing the Library and Youth Department at outreach visits and community events
- Managing assigned Youth Department collections in all formats
- including selection of materials for purchase, analysis of collections and use, inventory, and coordination of systematic weeding,
- Maintaining and building our rich partnerships and relationships with schools in West Vancouver, community groups and other organizations
- Collaborating on projects with staff across Library departments
- Act as a Designated Staff Member in Charge on evenings and/or weekendsPosition Status:
Union (WVMEA) - Permanent Part Time

Hours of Work:
30 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Starting Rate of Pay:
$40.13 per hour
- (This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.)
