**What you will do**
- Establish a strong security presence
- Provide excellent customer service to our clients, customers and patrons
- Patrol the premises, provide access control and respond to emergency situations in an appropriate and timely manner
- Perform safety and security duties with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity
- Complete incident reports for security purposes
- Respond to emergencies and escalate to law enforcement agencies as required
- Ensuring the safe and secure control and custody of high risk detained individuals
- Monitoring and controlling designated areas inside and outside the resources’ assigned work location, including all entrances and exits, as required
- Carrying out evacuation procedures in the event of a fire or emergency at their assigned work location in accordance with building emergency procedures
- Carrying out daily and unscheduled searches of premises and reporting irregularities as per the POSOPs
- Using approved search methods, as per the POSOPs
- Admitting individuals and conducting intake (logging and itemization of personal effects) and decontamination of individuals’ belongings
- Communicating using radios
- Completing reports and forms as required
- Monitoring individuals’ behaviour through active engagement and using verbal deescalation techniques, as required
- Administering First-Aid and CPR to individuals as required, including the use of provided AEDs
- A Valid BC Security License is required
- Valid First Aid Level 1 (OFA1) is an asset
- Advanced Security Training (AST) is an asset
- Must have resided in Canada for the past 5 years
- High school diploma or equivalent (proof of education is required)
- Able to pass Public Works Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check
- At least 1 year of experience in a security role
- Demonstrated ability to act decisively in high-pressure situations
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Willing to stand and patrol for the duration of the shift
