**Overview**
Halifax Water is currently seeking experienced **Operators**(Collection Systems Operator Apprentices) who are interested in learning and operating vacuum trucks, as well as working in and around wastewater construction. This position works outdoors in road construction, operating heavy machinery, vacuum trucks, and doing manual construction labour as they maintain and repair the sanitary and stormwater sewer system.

**Responsibilities**
- Perform scheduled and emergency cleaning, repair, and maintenance of sanitary and stormwater sewers, pipes, pumping stations and related infrastructure.
- You will operate a variety of vehicles (dump trucks, heavy equipment, vacuum trucks) and tools in a safe manner.
- You will work primarily outdoors, in all weather conditions and in confined spaces, etc.

**Qualifications**
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- A valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Drivers' license and a clean driving abstract
- Two years of experience working in a similar environment and with similar equipment and tools. (ie: road construction, paving crew, pipe laying, jet truck operation, hydro excavation)
- You will be required to obtain certification through Nova Scotia Environment within 6 months of hire as an Operator-in-Training. We arrange for the exam and pay the fee to write it.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3-6 months

Pay: $32.28-$37.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
