Live-in Companion/community Support to Active Young

The applicant will reside with the healthy, able, active, and very sociable 29-year-old woman who has autism and intellectual disabilities in a recently renovated, very pleasant, self-contained two-bedroom suite with its own entrance in her parents’ residence. The home is located in Oak Bay - a quiet, safe, and desirable neighbourhood in Victoria, BC, and is walking distance to many amenities (grocery stores, rec. centre, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.).
- Is independent in general life skills (dressing, bathing, eating, etc.)
- With guidance is capable to help with some household chores (setting table, vacuuming, laundry, etc)
- Is compliant - follows directions very well
- Has a happy disposition and is friendly - loves being around people
- Normally, has good sleep patterns and sleeps well all through the night
- Has no mobility issues (i.e., no lifting required)
- Loves Michael Bublé, the Royals Hockey Team, going for tea and will beat anyone at Go Fish
- Attends a community inclusion day program from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday (this does not require the attendance of the live-in support worker), and frequently spends some weekend time with her family
- Has a behaviour support plan in place under the supervision of a behaviour consultant
- Has a positive disposition
- Ideally, has previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Must be a team player and open to working collaboratively as part of the young woman’s support network
- Is a non-smoker, health conscious, in good health, and leads an active lifestyle
- Is neat, tidy, clean, well-organized, and detail-oriented
- Is skilled in typical household chores (e.g., cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.)
- Must learn and implement the young woman’s support plan, learning style, and programs
- Must be safety-conscious
- Able to obtain a clear Criminal Record check, First Aid certification and CPR endorsement.
- Has a current driver’s license. Owning own vehicle is an asset.
Contracted monthly amount starting at $3,500, plus free rent with utilities included. _All income received from this employment is currently classified as tax-exempt._
Yearly with flexible vacation breaks and potential for unlimited renewal

Contract length: 12 months
Pay: From $3,500.00 per month
