**Employment Type: Contract / Part-Time (Minimum 3 Days/Week On-Site)**

**Introductory Overview**

Our client is facing a critical operational challenge due to a high rate of hard disk drive (HDD) failures on Cisco M4 3260 servers at their Calgary data center. These failures are disrupting services and require both immediate and sustained technical intervention. While Cisco provides remote troubleshooting and the customer manages RMAs, there is an urgent need for **on-site technical support** to perform reactive maintenance and proactive diagnostics.

We are seeking a **skilled and reliable technician** based in Calgary to provide hands-on support, execute hardware procedures, and collaborate with remote engineers to ensure system stability and uptime.

**Core Responsibilities**

**Immediate On-Site Response**
- Execute power drain procedures on Cisco M4 3260 servers.
- Perform HDD replacements for drives that fail to recover.
- Support cable moves, hardware resets, and physical adjustments.

**Troubleshooting & Coordination**
- Assist Cisco remote engineers in diagnosing root causes of HDD failures.
- Follow structured “Smarthands” instructions with precision and attention to detail.
- Document all maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Communicate status updates to the customer’s technical team.

**Sustained Coverage**
- Be available on-site in Calgary at least **3 days per week**.
- Maintain readiness for repeated visits over an extended period.

**Required Skillsets**

**Technical Expertise**
- Experience in network and data center operations (LAN/WAN fundamentals).
- Familiarity with Cisco UCS server hardware, especially M4 3260 series.
- Proficiency in HDD replacements, component swaps, and power cycling.
- Ability to identify incident patterns and report physical failure attributes.

**Operational Proficiency**
- Skilled in executing remote instructions (“Smarthands”) accurately.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Safe handling of hardware and adherence to data center protocols.

**Logistical Requirements**
- Must be **Calgary-based** to ensure rapid response and avoid travel delays.
- Availability for **ongoing on-site support** over the duration of the engagement.
