**What’s the ask?**

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the Underwriting Specialist is responsible for providing analytics excellence to our national and global group benefits clients.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Analysis of alternative funding arrangements
- Analysis of financial benchmarking and preparation of reports/presentations
- Analyze carrier change financial/rate implications to client's budget
- Analyze carrier financial reports & preparation of estimated financials
- Group Renewal work: Assess, negotiate, write reports and prepare presentation
- Marketing & Quote Comparison: Assess, negotiate, write report and prepare presentation
- Participate in the redesign of benefit plans
- Peer review and provide analysis details for experience reporting
- Perform commission reconciliations and analysis
- Price and analyze costings
- Provide project management support as required

**What does it take?**
- Completed post-secondary degree or a combination of equivalent professional experience and training
- 3 to 5 years of professional work experience in a similar role
- Strong Financial Arrangement knowledge (Non-refund, Refund, ASO)
- Strong Analytical skills with high degree of numerical accuracy
- Strong Math skills
- Knowledge of Group Benefits - Intermediate (has a good understanding of Benefit plans)
- Time management in a fast-paced environment
- Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Able to multitask
- Attention to detail
- Able to skillfully work independently and within a team
- Strong organization and prioritization skills
- Able to problem solve
- Is self-motivated
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (excel, PowerPoint, word, outlook etc.)
- Sound judgement, ethics and integrity
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong client service attitude and client relationship/trust building skills
