We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced **Director of Resident Services** to join our Senior Management team. This role will oversee the operations of our Resident Services departments, including Resident Care, Nursing, and additional support programs.
**Position Overview**:
The **Director of Resident Services** will be responsible for the daily operations and strategic direction of resident care and support services. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this leadership position includes ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, managing staff and budgets, maintaining high care standards, and fostering a positive work environment. You will play a key role in advancing Participation House’s mission by ensuring efficient, resident-focused services that meet all regulatory and operational requirements.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Management & Operations**:
- Oversee the daily operations of Resident Care, Nursing, and related programs, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with Resident Service and Support Plans.
- Manage and support staff to ensure service and operational standards are consistently met.
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS), Quality Assurance Measures (QAM), and other relevant regulations.
- Lead the MCSS Compliance Audit process and ensure organizational readiness for audits.
- Develop and implement Infection Control and Pandemic Plans, in collaboration with the Health and Safety Committee.
- Participate in the On-Call emergency system for serious occurrences and emergencies.
**Human Resources Management**:
- Provide leadership, coaching, and training to Manager/Supervisors within Resident Services.
- Recruit, retain, and ensure appropriate staffing levels, adhering to collective agreements.
- Address staff and resident concerns through established grievance and complaint procedures.
- Conduct performance reviews and ensure staff are well-equipped to meet job expectations and health and safety policies.
**Strategic Planning & Quality Improvement**:
- Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans, aligning operational goals with the agency’s mission and standards.
- Identify opportunities for program development, growth, and service innovation.
- Lead quality initiatives and risk management practices to support continuous improvement.
**External & Community Relations**:
- Represent Participation House Markham in professional networks, committees, and meetings at local and provincial levels.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with government bodies, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
**Health & Safety**:
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant legislation.
- Promote a safe work environment through adherence to health and safety policies and procedures.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current registration with the Provincial regulating body (e.g., CNO).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) preferred.
**Experience**:
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience in long-term care, nursing unit management, residential or long-term care settings, or the developmental sector.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in program delivery and community relations.
- Strong business acumen in a not-for-profit setting.
- Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
**Skills & Competencies**:
- Proven ability to meet operational goals, manage budgets, and oversee program delivery in a non-profit agency.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience fostering strategic partnerships and building collaborative relationships with community-based organizations and their teams.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional, emotionally mature, and capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
- A self-starter with initiative, creativity, and enthusiasm to drive change.
- A passion for working with individuals of all abilities and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Point Click Care Software, e-MAR, and other relevant software.
- Reliable vehicle for travel.
