**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Director, Development Services, conducts policy research and analysis activities in support of Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) Initiatives and divisional programs and services and performs confidential administrative and communications support for division.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Monitors relevant policy, legislation and program developments in other jurisdictions that may impact divisional service and program delivery.
- Conducts research and analysis and applies critical thinking skills and experience to support divisional program and service delivery through the interpretation of trends, and defines challenges and opportunities.
- Delivers advice and briefings to the management team and Housing Accelerator Action Team regarding policy changes and emerging issues.
- Consults and liaise with other municipalities, government and stakeholders on policy development.
- Identifies opportunities for the Housing Accelerator Action Team to participate in and influence the development of policy in areas central to its mandate.
- Prepares draft correspondence, briefing notes, position papers, resolutions, presentations and other communications materials as required.
- Monitors and coordinates the production and completion of related corporate reports and by-laws to ensure timelines are met. Drafts corporate reports and communications as required for HAF initiatives.
- Performs administrative duties and provides confidential administrative support for HAF initiatives and other Division priorities.
- Attends and records minutes of meetings; prepares and distributes agendas and minutes and schedules meetings as required.
- Acts as the Supervisor - Support Services & Internal Projects Lead in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Degree in political science, public administration or policy, commerce, business administration, journalism, communications or a related field, along with three years’ related experience or
- Diploma in political science, public administration or policy, commerce, business administration, journalism, communications or a related field, along with five years’ related experience

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Independent judgement when dealing with confidential or sensitive divisional issues
- Excellent analytical abilities with a thorough knowledge of analytical research methodologies and computerized analytical techniques
- Proven facilitation, report writing, presentation and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Excellent analytical skills, high attention to detail, and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to deal with the public and staff in a courteous and tactful manner
- Must have the demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and to work under time constraints and changing deadlines
- Strong project/time management, organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software
- Political acumen and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Ontario _Occupational Health and Safety Act_

**Assets**:

- Experience with SAP software
- Familiarity with the functions of all three levels of government
- Knowledge of functions of City departments, outside boards, and local community groups

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
