We are hiring an experienced carpenter that can complete carpentry related tasks from rough to finish carpentry and assist with fixture installation on various projects.
- **Experience**_
- Minimum 5 years construction experience fulfilling Carpenter roles. Well rounded/Multi skill level
- Fully competent in reading and Interpreting plans, blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
- Strong layout skills (walls, millwork, fixtures, hardware, doors, openings etc.)
- Strong understanding of construction processes, project sequencing (this has to be done before that can be done)
- Must possess rough and finished carpentry skills (Drywall/Taping, Door/Hardware installation, trim/crown moulding etc.)
- Skilled use of carpentry and general construction tools; familiarity of carpentry materials
- Good, solid understanding of work of other trades in relation to own scope of work
- Strong attention to detail with high quality workmanship and worksite cleanliness
- Proven ability to improvise and customize materials to meet specs
- Overall Installation experience
- **Time Management and Communication**_
- Proven ability to work on project based deadlines
- Ability to readily adapt to project scope as needed, you're ok if things don't necessarily go as planned
- Able to work both independently and in large team environments
- You are super-reliable. When you say you'll be somewhere or do something - you do it
- Excellent interpersonal skills, effectively communicate on site with team members and clients working in a professional/respectful manner in both a closed and operating store environment
- Coordination and problem solving skills - Set priorities and exercise flexibility where necessary
- Ability to oversee/lead a small group of helpers (Ex. - labourers or fixture installers)
- **Role**_
- Following instructions from the Site Supervisor, install the rough carpentry and finished millwork requirements on site according to provided plans from client
- Install Doors and Hardware - setting and installing hollow metal door frames, doors, door stops & closers, handles and other related door hardware and accessories
- Install drywall requirements according to plan
- Install cabinetry, desks, walls, store displays
- Unloading and receiving deliveries specifically related to project requirements. Verify quality and replace damaged millwork and/or fixtures, where necessary
- Packing and labeling parts and materials as required for project scope
- Manage tools and material inventory for each project. Ensure unused materials are accounted for and all company tools returned at the end of the project. Managing company assets and materials is critical
- As required assist with Store Fixture Installation - installing & setting up shelving, warehouse racking and store displays in a major retail environment
- Working as a team and following direction to execute all parts of the project as required
- Understands specific project related client expectations and goals regarding execution, quality, and timelines
- Ensure daily goals are achieved and communicating when there are issues that need to be resolved
- Follow established timelines for project
- Actively execute any additional required tasks, including administrative ones as required. Exhibit a willingness to accept other job responsibilities as needed
- Manage and organize time in order to meet tight deadlines. Where potential conflicts or timeline issues may arise, provide early warning and update site supervisor as appropriate, suggest methods for resolution
- Cleaning, sweeping, mopping, removal of garbage and debris to ensure work area/job site is prepared for new set-up, store operations and safety
- Comply with the company's H&S Program, ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to
- **Additional Requirements**_
- Able to work a variety of shifts including days or nights as required
- Flexibility and willingness to travel as out of town, travel is required (travel expenses at company's expense)
- Flexible schedule required as we work around our clients schedules
- Health & Safety focused
- Valid driver’s license, own vehicle
- Must have steel toe work boots, safety knife, work gloves and a measuring tape
- Ability to Lift up to 60lbs
- Able to stand/lift/bend/walk for the duration of the shift
- Able to climb ladders
- Own a basic tool set and can work hand and power tools competently & safely
- **Additional Assets**_
- Post Secondary Education in a construction related discipline is an asset
- Carpenters license is an asset
- WHMIS, Aerial, Forklift and Working at Heights Certification
- Able to use a pump truck
