The Cook works as part of a team in food and nutrition services performing tasks such as cooking and presenting meals for residents which align with residents food preferences and diets, employees and customers of Lee Caring Holsom Place_ Long Term Care Home_. The Cook follows proper food handling procedures, maintains production records and HACCP controls, participates in catering and special events as required, and has the ability to work under mínimal supervision and accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment following departmental guidelines. The Cook performs the responsibilities of the position consistent with Aramark’s operational policies as well as within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Provincial and Municipal Acts.

Required Lead Cook, Assistant cooks, Receiver

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepares food items in a timely fashion following production time schedules, prescribed recipes, procedures and guidelines.
- Participating in establishing and maintaining a home-like environment including the dining experience (serving meals, providing great customer service, working as a team).
- Prepares regular and modified foods for residents and customers in accordance to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
- Assists with menu development, serving food items, cash handling, food ordering demonstration and cooking.
- Portion and serve food, attractively displayed based on resident choice and preference to meet individual dietary requirements at the required times.
- Places food into appropriate serving containers, labels and delivers to hot holding units and records all associated temperatures,
- Maintains and sanitizes work area and all related equipment.
- Follows proper food handling procedures including maintaining food in a temperature safety zone. Initiates corrective action as required. Monitors food spoilage.
- Labels, dates and stores food items appropriately.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- Must be able to acquire food safety certification
- Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must have the manual dexterity required for handling equipment and supplies
- In addition, incumbent must be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments and environment. Must be willing and capable of working in fast paced environment.
- Must provide clear Criminal Record Check

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
