Reporting directly to the President, the Project Manager leads the full lifecycle of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects, ensuring seamless execution from inception to completion. This role requires a high degree of adaptability, initiative, and an entrepreneurial mindset to navigate dynamic project demands, solve challenges proactively, and drive continuous improvement. The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating project planning, scheduling, and delivery to meet deadlines, budget constraints, and client expectations. Working closely with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams, they play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical solutions while fostering strong relationships and promoting operational efficiency.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Project Planning & Execution_
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with project objectives, agreed upon timelines and client expectations.
- Drive project completion by meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality finished projects.
- Communicate effectively with all relevant stakeholders, internal and external, to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with project objectives.
- Identify and mitigate risks to minimize project delays and/or disruptions, effectively adapting to challenges and finding proactive solutions to potential problems.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process enhancements to optimize efficiency.
- Leadership & Team Management_
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with field staff, subcontractors and clients, fostering collaboration.
- Promote a culture of trust and transparency, fostering mutual respect among all project stakeholders.
- Provide clear direction and guidance, setting expectations, defining objectives and motivating teams to achieve goals.
- Strategically delegate tasks, leveraging strengths and managing workloads, to optimize efficiency.
- Lead by example by consistently demonstrating professionalism and a strong work ethic.
- Communication & Client Relations _
- Update stakeholders regularly on the status of projects.
- Actively hear client concerns and receive feedback, demonstrating understanding, to foster long-term relationships.
- Build and maintain positive client relationships, delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Financial Management_
- Develop and manage project budgets, accounting for direct costs, contingencies, potential holdbacks and unexpected expenses to ensure comprehensive financial planning.
- Monitor project costs with the budget in mind to ensure financial stability through project lifecycle.
- Regularly communicate financial updates to stakeholders.
- Identify and implement cost-saving strategies, balancing cost reduction efforts with high-quality standards.
- Conduct post-project financial analysis by reviewing past projects to forecast potential challenges, including holdbacks and payment delays, to enhance future project planning and resource allocation.
- Problem Solving_
- Identify issues quickly and effectively, implementing solutions that minimize downtime and ensure ongoing project progression.
- Employ data-driven decision making too make informed decisions.
- Maintain composure under pressure, ensuring that informed decisions are made expediently.
- Safety and Compliance_
- Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations, industry standards, codes and company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
- Identify and address safety risks on job sites, implementing corrective actions and safety measures to prevent accidents and enhance site safety.
- Promote a safety-first culture by educating and encouraging teams to adhere to safety protocols.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum 3 years of project management experience in the mechanical construction sector, required; 5+ years preferred.
- Experience in plumbing and/or sheet metal systems, required.
- Relevant post-secondary education or trade certification, an asset.
**KEY CANDIDATE COMPETENCIES**
- Knowledge of construction processes, building codes and industry regulations.
- Proven ability to deliver successful commercial, institutional and industrial projects.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools for efficient coordination, including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
