Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Junior IPM Technician to support our pest management programs in cannabis grow operations. This entry-level role involves monitoring, identifying, and implementing biological and cultural pest control methods to maintain crop health and regulatory compliance. You’ll work under senior IPM specialists, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Ideal for recent agriculture grads or those with basic horticulture knowledge entering the cannabis sector.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily scouting of grow rooms and greenhouses for pests, diseases, and nutrient issues using magnification tools and IPM protocols.
- Maintain detailed records in our IPM software, including pest thresholds, treatment efficacy, and environmental data.
- Assist in sanitation protocols, quarantine procedures, and equipment calibration to prevent infestations.
- Support integrated approaches like crop rotation, humidity control, and resistant cultivars.
- Collaborate with cultivation teams to optimize grow conditions and report findings to management.
- Participate in training on cannabis-specific pests (e.g., powdery mildew, spider mites) and safety standards.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Valid Greenhouse/Interior Plant Exterminator Licence and basic knowledge of IPM principles; prior experience in greenhouse is an asset.
- Familiarity with cannabis cultivation regulations under the Cannabis Act and Good Production Practices (GPP).
- Ability to work in humid, enclosed environments with exposure to biological agents; must pass a background check and obtain a cannabis facility security clearance.
- Physical fitness for lifting up to 25kg, standing for extended periods, and wearing PPE.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and eagerness to learn.

Preferred Skills
- Experience with IPM tools like sticky traps, pheromone lures, or digital monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of biological agents approved for cannabis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or farm management software.
