We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Compliance Analyst to join our company. The Analyst will ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, perform KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks, and analyze transaction data for irregularities. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the integrity and success of SDM in the rapidly evolving crypto space.
**Responsibilities & Expectations**
Based in Alberta, and reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will be required to execute, engage with, and support the development and optimization of many of our compliance and operational processes.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Review new client onboarding documents.
- Follow-up on and investigate red flags as they are discovered.
- Collaborating with operational and front-office departments to promote efficient company operations.
- Conduct regular negative media screening.
- Review potential matches against various regulatory control lists.
- Conduct blockchain forensics analysis. Chainalysis experience is a plus
- File regulatory reports.
- Support activities of sister companies
- Report to CCO on compliance activities and the status of the compliance regime as a whole
- Assist with account opening and maintenance with suppliers and vendors
**Some of the specific things you’ll work on are**:
**Client Onboarding Support**:
- Conducting preliminary checks, organizing documentation, and ensuring completeness of client onboarding files.
**Regulatory Reporting (LVCTR)**:
- Support the reporting process for large virtual currency transactions.
**Wallet Checks**
- Supporting ad-hoc responsibilities such as verifying wallets are free of negative exposure in Chainalysis, before trades, ensuring continuous coverage at all times.
**Administrative Support**:
- Managing administrative tasks like document filing and maintaining records to streamline operations.
**Process Improvement and Documentation**:
- Engaging in process enhancement proposals and contributing to the documentation of SOPs for compliance processes.
**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree required
- 1+ years work experience in a relevant role in digital assets
- Knowledge of Canadian regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Crypto-related experience
- Ability to work with a hybrid/remote team, and to handle multiple projects/ clients and projects simultaneously
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Knowledge in establishing and developing remote work processes and a relevant compliance culture
- Detail oriented with the ability to check documents for accuracy, errors, spot inconsistencies etc
**Nice to have**:
- CAMS or CFE certification or equivalent not required but preferred
- Experience with Chainalysis
- Experience with MSBs and interfacing with FINTRAC
- Knowledge and experience in the payments space and/or digital asset markets is a plus
