Portfolio Associate

**Location**: In-office, Montreal
As Portfolio Associate, you will report to the Operations Manager and provide support to the Screen Portfolio Team. This role demands strong analytical skills, along with the capacity to efficiently manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment. You will manage and develop Valnet's Screen Portfolio, which includes the brands ScreenRant, MovieWeb, Collider, CBR, and The Things.
**Responsibilities**:
**P&L Management & Optimization**: Assist in managing P&L at the EBITDA level, focusing on identifying opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization. Track financial performance and recommend adjustments to align with business goals.
**Strategic Budget Allocation**: Support the strategic allocation of investment budgets to enhance digital publishing operations, streamline costs, and boost revenue streams. Implement daily tasks, ensuring all efforts align with long-term profitability.
**Content & Audience Development**: Collaborate with editorial teams to understand and improve content strategies. Leverage data-driven insights to help increase traffic, engagement, and audience reach across all brands within the Screen portfolio.
**Competitive Analysis & Market Research**: Conduct thorough competitor analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic enhancements. Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market shifts to maintain a competitive edge.
**New Venture Development**: Support the identification and exploration of new projects, ventures, and partnerships that complement or expand the existing portfolio. Assist in preparing business cases and feasibility assessments for potential initiatives.
**Team Collaboration & Leadership**: Work closely with brand leaders, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and performance. Assist in setting clear goals, tracking progress, and delivering constructive feedback.
**Reporting & Strategic Adjustments**: Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including revenue, traffic, and audience engagement. Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior management to drive continuous improvement.
**Efficiency & Process Improvement**: Help streamline content and operational processes, ensuring efficient project management and timely execution. Constantly look for ways to improve the quality, timeliness, and relevance of content output.
Work collaboratively with department and managers.
**Requirements**:
1-5 years of experience in roles such as Business Analyst, Operations Manager, Corporate Strategy, Content Management, M&A, or Financial Analysis, ideally within media, publishing, or entertainment.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or another relevant field.
Strong analytical skills, with a proven ability to use data to drive decision-making. Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, Excel, and other data analysis platforms.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
A passion for the entertainment sector and a solid understanding of digital publishing, content monetization, and audience engagement strategies.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Capable of managing projects independently while contributing to team objectives.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving priorities. Comfortable managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
1-5 years of experience in roles such as Business Analyst, Operations Manager, Corporate Strategist, Content Manager, M&A Associate, or Financial Analyst, preferably within the media, web, publishing, or entertainment industries.
Understanding of the Valnet Business System (VBS) or a willingness to learn and adopt its principles for operational success.
