The Mission of the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal is to provide a safe and supportive environment that strengthens cultural identity, self-esteem and independence for Indigenous women and their children; and achieve balance through empowered healing via our various programs and projects such as the Iskweu Project. A Project created to respond to the immediate need for assistance of missing and murdered Indigenous women or girls as expressed by families and loved ones. As such, we are currently looking for a Community Relations & Resource Coordinator who will support the work of the Iskweu team, as well as solidify relationships with community resources to ensure institutional accountability for families and survivors of MMIWG2S+.

POSITION TITLE: Community Relations & Resource Coordinator

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time, 40 hours per week

LOCATION: downtown Montreal

SALARY: $27 - $28/hour

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday

START DATE: As soon as possible

PROBATION: Three (3) month probation period, after which an

evaluation will be conducted.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Under the authority of the Executive Director, the Community Relations & Resource Coordinator is responsible for the following tasks:

- Provide support to the Iskweu team in meeting with clientele who are victims of violence or MMIWG2S+.
- Assist and support families in navigating the legal system.
- Engage with local organizations to ensure alignment with efforts to prevent

MMIWG2S+ incidents.
- Advocate for the implementation of calls to action by community organizations.
- Forge connections with nationwide organizations with MMIWG2S+ mandates to gather best practices and implement them in Quebec.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive database of emergency resources for

MMIWG2S+ individuals, victims of violence, and those at risk of facing violence.
- Attend all Iskweu rallies, marches, and host the National Day of Remembrance on May 5th.
- Represent the Iskweu Project at city meetings pertaining to cohabitation,

MMIWG2S+ issues, and other relevant stakeholder gatherings.
- Conduct weekly meetings with the Iskweu team to discuss updates and case

management.
- Update and distribute Iskweu toolkits to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in conferences and other meetings related to MMIWG2S+ issues.
- Organizing and facilitating a Town Hall gathering for Indigenous women affected by police racial profiling
- Any other tasks required by the Executive Director.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous communities and cultures.
- Knowledge of the legal system and advocacy experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to social justice and ending violence against Indigenous

women, girls, and Two-Spirit individuals.

Pay: $27.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
