**Your Opportunity**:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant II, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient, and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results. You will provide on-site technical support to the team, help manage wait times, assist with projects and work closely with Supervisors and Managers. This position contains a variety of shifts, between 0600-1830 hours and includes rotating every third weekend that could include a Saturday shift or Saturday and Sunday shifts. Scheduled at St Albert Summit Plaza and Tudor Glen locations.

**Description**:
As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will be responsible for pre-analytical specimen handling, transport, accessioning, processing and storage. You will also be responsible for responding to inquiries, cleaning, monitoring and preventative maintenance of lab equipment and work areas, maintaining common supplies, updating inventories and data sheets and participating in lab quality and safety requirements.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
ECG experience within the last 5 years. Venipuncture experience within the past 5 years Minimum of 2 years of recent experience working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in a Patient Service Centre/Community Services is required.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Supervisory experience is an asset.
