- As the Leader, Climate Adaptation, you will be responsible for providing professional and technical expertise in establishing and implementing environmental and adaptation strategies, programs and projects that directly contribute to the Climate Strategy, Pathways to 2050, specifically the Climate Adaptation Actions with support for the mitigation and other environmental strategies. You will be responsible for the development, planning, oversight, and evaluation of policy, processes, and projects relating to corporate and community climate impacts and climate adaptation. Primary duties include:

- Manage the development, implementation, evaluation and reporting on initiatives related to the Climate Strategy and Adaptation Implementation Plan.
- Undertake complex analysis and evaluations to determine the best overall strategies and/or solutions to specific climate problems, including adaptive measures.
- Influence and collaborate on planning initiatives across the corporation to ensure that climate adaptation and resilience efforts are integrated across all functions, including engineering specifications, standards, land use policies and business planning & budgets.
- Provide quality assurance technical review and recommendations that the City will rely upon when developing and implementing asset management plans, developing and updating climate adaptation standards and policy interpretations to ensure the policy goals are met.
- Oversee the development and integration of climate adaptation engineering standards into design and development approval processes, including participation in federal and provincial initiatives such as building code updates
- Develop and implement funding opportunities and initiatives for climate adaptation.
- Build strong relationships with other business units, organizations, and other levels of government, leveraging other corporate initiatives to realize goals or messaging opportunities.

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Science, Engineering, Environment, Safety, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of progressive experience, including leadership and/or supervisory experience of multidisciplinary teams.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Extensive practical experience in implementing corporate strategies, an understanding of climate science, and proven skills in developing environmental policies and programs are essential.
- Registration as a Professional Biologist or as a Professional Engineer in Canada will be considered an asset.
- Experience, interest, and strength in environmental management, policies, climate adaptation, natural asset management, and strategy development are assets.
- Knowledge of City departments, business units, Integrated Risk Management (IRM), Climate Risk Management (CRM), Project Management, and Systems Thinking will be considered assets.

- Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
