**Overview**
The Director of Education (DE) is responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of the Sylvan programs and instruction, for overseeing the training and performance of the teachers and contributing to the growth of the center through conducting inquiries, enrollments and ongoing conferences using the Sales Excellence/ Enroll model. The Director of Education is monitored by the Center Director but reports directly to the Executive Director.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manages, conducts and delivers inquiry calls, ongoing conferences and welcome conferences to gain and maintain parent commitment to the Sylvan programs and to secure additional sales.
- Assists Centre Director in conferencing with new enrollments.
- Maintains knowledge of all Sylvan academic programs; coordinates training of these programs for all staff including the Centre Director.
- Manages teachers, tests administrators, teaching assistants and other educational staff.
- Motivates and develops staff effectively through initial and follow up training, as well as ongoing workshops.
- Schedules staff appropriately to meet instructional demands and maintain a 3:1 ratio.
- Conducts regular teacher meetings to ensure everyone adheres to instructional policies and procedures, conducts mini-training sessions as needed.
- Administers skills assessments; analyzes testing results and completes summaries.
- Writes appropriate goals and initial reports for students based on initial testing.
- Administers and analyzes ongoing progress tests correctly and writes progress reports accurately.
- Proactively analyzes quality reviews on an ongoing basis to ensure the success of every student.
- Strives to contact teachers to discuss student progress before each parent conference.
- Manages the instructional hour to ensure formal welcome, instruction and transition time occur smoothly and consistently each hour.
- Develops and maintains a positive rapport and genuine concern for students.
- Encourages the development of student moral through the use of recognition, rewards, Transition Time, contests, instructional programs and center atmosphere.
- Ensures the Sylvan Store (Motivation Station) is well supplied with merchandise that is attractively displayed.
- Assists Centre Director with enforcing policies for billing and collections, tracking student attendance and preparing daily and permanent schedules.
- Organizes and implements attendance procedures.
- Maintains educational materials.
- Attends public relations activities in the center (i.e. Open House or Teacher Party).
- Maintains a positive attitude for the job and for the company.
- Dresses in a professional manner in accordance with the standards of the Centre.
- Reports education statistics weekly (Academic Growth, LOS, ratio, holds, disenrolls).

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $32,000.00-$40,000.00 per year

Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
