Animal Care Attendant

The Zoo Crew is looking to grow our animal care team We are looking for both full-time or part-time Animal Care Attendant. This position requires WEEKEND availability.
This is a permanent year-round position for a team member that has completed a post-secondary diploma in an animal-related field or has past experience working in animal care.
Are you passionate about animals and interested in working with them every day? We are looking for a detail-oriented and committed Animal Care Attendant to join our team.
This position can be either full-time or part-time position, which will offer 20-40 hours per week.
Staff must be comfortable working with a variety of pocket pets, small mammals, reptiles and birds, handling training is provided. In addition to excellent skills in working with animals, staff must be personable and outgoing and willing to interact with the public and children of all ages for some of our programming and our student volunteers.
Position Overview & Requirements:
*Daily cage cleaning and feeding
*Develop enrichment strategies to enhance animal well-being
*Nutrition needs and food preparation
*Generally overseeing the animal's health and well-being, charting weights, administering medication when needed, grooming and nail trims.
*Management of weekend volunteers
*Ability to work well with the public and provide hands-on interaction for our drop-in programs and animal handling support for on-site animal events at our location.
*Confident and great customer service skills
*Must be able to lift 50lbs
*Must be available to work weekends and holidays
*Background Check: All applicants must submit to a vulnerable sector background check and successfully complete and provide at least two contactable references
*Bilingual English/French an asset but not required
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 - 40 per week
**Salary**: $16.00-$18.00 per hour

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
