Asbestos, Mold and Restoration Removal Worker

**Position Summary**
The Asbestos Removal Worker is responsible for safely and effectively removing, handling, and disposing of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in accordance with provincial regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific requirements. This role requires strict adherence to health and safety protocols to protect workers, building occupants, and the environment from asbestos exposure.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Prepare abatement areas by setting up enclosures, negative air units, and warning signs as required by project specifications.
- Wear and maintain proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, protective suits, and gloves, at all times during abatement activities.
- Remove asbestos-containing materials (e.g., insulation, floor tiles, drywall, ceiling tiles, roofing, pipe wrap) using approved methods (wetting, hand tools, HEPA vacuums).
- Safely bag, seal, and label asbestos waste for proper disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Operate and maintain specialized abatement equipment such as HEPA vacuums, negative air machines, and decontamination units.
- Perform decontamination procedures, including showering and equipment cleaning, before exiting controlled work areas.
- Assist in air monitoring set-up and cooperate with consultants conducting clearance testing.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas to prevent contamination outside the enclosure.
- Complete daily reports, checklists, and documentation as directed by the supervisor.
- Follow all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, company policies, and job-specific safe work procedures.
**Qualifications & Skills**
- Valid asbestos abatement training certification (Type 1, Type 2, and/or Type 3, as required by provincial regulations).
- Knowledge of Ontario Regulation 278/05 (or applicable jurisdiction) regarding asbestos.
- Experience in hazardous material abatement, demolition, or construction is an asset.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, heights, and physically demanding environments.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
**Working Conditions**
- Work performed in construction, renovation, and demolition environments.
- Exposure to hazardous materials; strict use of PPE is mandatory.
- Physically demanding role requiring lifting, bending, crouching, and prolonged standing.
- Shift work, weekends, and overtime may be required depending on project needs.
Pay: $25.00-$30.73 per hour
