Applications are invited for the position of Associate Dean, School of Academic and Liberal Studies, located at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus. The salary range is $104,263 to $139,013 for a 35 hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.
Reporting to the Dean of Academic and Liberal Studies, this dynamic individual works collaboratively with a high performance academic, administrative, and support divisional team to lead the development and delivery of outstanding quality academic and liberal studies programs and courses. The school is responsible for delivering a range of Communication, Math, and Liberal Studies courses to over 130 programs across the college at both the certificate, diploma, and degree level. This position also oversees the delivery of the General Arts and Science program and the Community Integration through Co operative Education (CICE) program. This program is designed to provide individuals with disabilities and other significant learning challenges the opportunity to experience college life and enhance their employability, academic, and social skills.
The Associate Dean is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the academic delivery of academic and liberal studies courses and programs in line with college budget and enrollment forecasts. The Associate Dean provides leadership in the development and renewal of curriculum, the effective hiring and development of faculty, and the management of workload assignments. The Associate Dean designs and controls an expense budget, supervises faculty and staff, and manages the delivery of courses and programs in the portfolio. This role requires a high degree of collaboration with the Dean, Associate Deans, faculty, and college stakeholders to ensure that courses and programs are delivered effectively and efficiently with a focus on quality and student success. Resolving academic integrity cases, attending community and college recruitment events, and participating on college-wide committees are also responsibilities of the Associate Dean.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Master’s degree in a related field of study
- Minimum nine (9) years combined experience which includes management and industry experience and a minimum five (5) years of successful teaching at a post-secondary level
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Demonstrated experience in developing student-centred programs and supports
- Experience with curriculum design and development in a post secondary/adult environment
- Proven development abilities in moving ideas from conceptual to operational
- Advanced team building, collaboration, and networking abilities
- Superior skills in communication, problem solving/conflict resolution, organizational, and prioritizing within a multi faceted role
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Previous academic management and/or leadership experience
- Enrollment management and budget experience
- Experience with supervision of staff within a unionized environment
- Experience working with and/or designing programs and/or training opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities
