We are searching for a **Manager, Health & Safety**to join our Human Resources Team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

**About the Opportunity**
- Supervises, directs, coaches and evaluates the work of Health & Safety partners including site leaders, Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees (JOHSCs), and employees
- Developing, assessing, monitoring, and adjusting the Health and Safety program and related documents to address trends in incidents, hazards, injuries, and tasks across all job positions.
- Monitoring emerging compliance requirements, developing strategies to respond to compliance risks, and conducting regular compliance audits and follow-up inspections.
- Analyzing injury statistical data to develop prevention strategies and delivering safety training and education to support staff competency and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Co-leading the monthly Corporate Risk Management meetings that includes; setting agendas, completing minutes, and supplementary resources and ensuring participation.
- Help oversee education and programs related to organizational safety.
- Accompany managers and employees in identifying risks and providing OHS support to managers for their respective teams.
- Support orientation training at new build for managers and employees on health and safety
- Complete safety inspection of new builds, prior to opening, and identify any risks or opportunities to make adjustments
**About You**
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and certificate or diploma in Safety management or a related discipline that includes courses in emergency planning, response, and hazard and risk assessment, is required.
- Applicable Health & Safety designation from a recognized institution (i.e. CRSP®)
- Minimum of 7 years of Safety experience
- Minimum of 5 years leading and managing a team
- Comprehensive understanding of applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations pertaining to occupational health & safety and claims management and human rights.
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
