**Responsibilities and Work Procedures**:
- Experience reading and interpreting technical shop drawings in order to fabricate parts would be an asset
- Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically the metal and steel industry, with a custom metal fabrication shop would be an asset
- Follow work processes to identify necessary machines, job operations, and setup sequences
- Hands-on with mechanical aptitude and familiarity with operating power tools such as drills, grinders and band saw; and hand tools such as tape measures, clamps, screw drivers, and wrenches
- Position, fit, and assemble prefabricated metal parts and major components such as motors, rollers, and hydraulic assemblies
- Use lifting devices like cranes and forklifts to move and align subassemblies and components
- Inspect parts and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards
- Communicate with team members to ensure workflow efficiency and availability of tools, parts, and machinery
- Complete work documentation including pre-inspection procedures, quality control check list and labor entry to ensure data is recorded accurately in accordance with company standards
- Adhere to a flexible work schedule as needed to meet production demands
- Assist with keeping shop clean, organized, and safe
- Understand work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments, packing lists, material and equipment needs
- Load and unload trucks to ship and receive goods
- Pack, seal, label to prepare materials for shipping
- Assist with other duties as assigned
**Required Skills**:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Certified Forklift and Crane Operator (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Metric and Imperial Measurement Systems
- Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
- Ability to work within a collaborative team in a respectful and positive manner
- Ability to adapt and respond positively with change
- Willing to learn new skills and share experiences
- Strong commitment to safety
- Must be detail oriented to perform routine checks
**Equipment**
- Forklifts, Lift trucks
- Power hoists
- Pallet transport trucks
- Overhead cranes
**Working Conditions**:
- Lifting, bending, standing and sitting
- Exposed to repetitive movement
- PPE requirement - CSA green safety boots, protective eyewear (provided), gloves (provided) and hearing protection (provided)
- Voluntary overtime available through extended shift hours and/or additional shifts on weekends. Overtime is paid at time-and-a-half after 40 hours worked
