The accounting manager - inventory is responsible for ensuring that Best Buy Canada financial statements are timely, relevant, accurate and in accordance with US GAAP and Best Buy Enterprise policy. You will be responsible for all aspects of inventory accounting including inventory reserves, shrink, markdown expense, damage write-off, secondary markets, and operational merch AP functions. You will work cohesively with business partners to ensure seamless rollouts of initiatives and projects, providing business acumen and support on cross-functional projects.

What you’ll do:

- Oversee the monthly general ledger reconciliation process, balance sheet and P&L variance analysis, journal entries, general ledger accounts and annual budgets prepared by associates
- Manage resources to ensure that deadlines are met for month-end closing confirming that accounting for assigned areas of responsibility is in compliance with US GAAP
- Design and implement SOX & non-SOX processes related to financial statements, month-end reporting to ensure compliance with SOPs and US GAAP. Coordinate information to Best Buy US external reporting requirements
- Build a best-in-class controllership team, through an ongoing system of recruitment, development, recognition, and performance management
- Assist the Assistant Controller with reporting requirements and other tasks. Complete special projects and ad-hoc duties as assigned, including US GAAP accounting research and recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness

What we’re looking for:

- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a mid-large size organization
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing a team
- An accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA)
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with large and complex data sets and related tools
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office, experience with various BI tools and knowledge of ERP systems
