**Summary**
We are currently hiring for a driven and structured Junior Project Manager, Construction to join our Western Canada team. Reporting to the Network Development Director, the Junior Project Manager will provide strategic leadership and management in the areas of construction for our network of stores throughout Western Canada. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain Construction Industry experience in a strategic role with great opportunities for growth within the department. In your role you will support the development of a Project Coordinator, ensuring they are engaged, supported, resourced, and set up for success
**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
- Oversee construction projects and activities in Western Canada
- Oversee 1 direct report project coordinator
- Monitor and support established processes by the construction team.
- Plan construction requirements by deploying company resources, resolving development issues, planning, monitoring, and evaluating critical path results and coordinating development information.
- Meet construction schedules by hiring, directing, and supervising the work of general contractors and subcontractors, checking work in progress, resolving issues and reporting progress.
- Meet financial goals by negotiating contractor rates, forecasting requirements, submitting information for budget preparation, scheduling expenditures, monitoring costs, analyzing variances, writing purchase orders, and reviewing and approving invoices.
- Fulfill contract requirements by performing pre-construction and close-out inspections, as well as a detailed listing of deficiencies at the end of projects.
- Comply with legal and company requirements by enforcing building codes, following company systems, policies, and procedures, maintaining safe and healthy work practices and monitoring inspections.
- Improve the efficiency of the construction process by evaluating the results of engineering systems, recommending new systems, policies, and procedures, and recommending and implementing revisions.
- Maintain continuity between the company's management, divisional, and work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
- Increase the effectiveness of department employees through, training, communication of job expectations, assessment of values, strategies, and goals.
- Coach, counsel, and discipline employees as needed.
- Plan, monitor, and evaluate work results and foster a climate conducive to the expression of information and opinions.
- Fulfill operational requirements by developing schedules, assigning, and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, resolving problems, implementing, and enforcing new procedures.
- Contribute to team efforts by generating all other associated results as needed.
**Profile Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in management, construction, business, engineering, or other related education preferred.
- Experience in managing construction projects is preferred
- Advanced skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & related Microsoft suite products
- Must possess strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple activities, and retain strong detail orientation.
- Must be able to maintain a positive team attitude, with a focus on individual development within their team.
