  Position: Junior Superintendent - Buildings (Special Projects) Project Type: Diverse Project PortfolioProject Location: Calgary, AB. Shift: Day Schedule: Monday-Friday GC: GrahamAllied Partner: Technical Workforce Inc.Reference Number: 29802   ​Reporting to the Senior Superintendent or above, the Superintendent assists and supports senior Superintendents with field operations on larger projects from initial project planning to completion. The incumbent may be solely responsible for a specialized or limited area on larger projects, or for general field operations for projects under $1M. The incumbent is responsible for project activities including the supervision of self-performed and subcontracted construction work, with a focus on the execution of the work - ensuring that the project is built on time, within budget, and according to company policies and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for managing, directing, and mentoring foremen and other field personnel, and under the guidance of senior Superintendents, is actively working to broaden their scope of knowledge in order to gain the experience and proficiency required to become fully autonomousAs a Superintendent you will:Participate in preconstruction services on all negotiated project including development of site logistics, project schedule and phasing, design and constructability review and budget developmentBe responsible for site staffing, quality control, sub-trade coordination, project scheduling, field cost control and safetyDetermine the method of construction, materials quantities, equipment, work schedule and documentation of hours workedCoordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments and subcontractorsMaintain relationships with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and scheduleMonitor compliance with company and site safety programs and documents, and ensures corrective measures are implementedTake an active role in the hiring, training, and monitoring field personnelAssist with preparation and facilitation of project meetingsAssist project managers with resolution of outstanding claim items and with warrantyWork in conjunction with the project manager, manage the project budget specifically as pertains to production on self-performed workQualifications/Experience:Varying years of experience will be considered: 4-10 years of construction experience and a minimum of 2-4 years in a supervisor capacity roleProficiency in structural concrete, steel and timber frame constructionProven ability to manage project values $1M - 15MProven ability to lead mid-sized teamsKnows the impact of change on cost and scheduleLook-ahead 3 months of more in planning workKnowledge of construction engineering and designKnowledge of standard construction software and management processesWorking Conditions:The majority of work is completed on job sites in an office trailer or in an existing structureDue to daily condition changes on construction projects, when employees are outside of the office trailer or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditionsThe incumbent may need to relocate to other geographic work locations, if necessary COME AND GET YOUR BOOTS DIRTY With a significant presence in the construction, industrial maintenance, and turnaround sectors, Jardeg is the largest recruiter of skilled trades in Canada.
