Manager, Retail Credit Products

**Scope of Position**
Under the direction of the Director, Products & Partnerships, the Manager, Retail Credit Products is responsible for managing the product lifecycle for credit products and services and the execution of business strategies that contribute to portfolio growth, profitability and customer and employee engagement objectives.
This individual monitors the competitive environment and market trends, assesses customer needs and evaluates the performance of the portfolio including forecasting volumes and expenses. The Manager, Retail Credit Products works with the Director, Products & Partnerships to develop and implement the annual operating plan and will identify and implement actions to close gaps and meet/ exceed targets.
The manager will provide leadership to direct reports through training, continuous learning, performance assessment, coaching and recognition
**Major Responsibilities**
**Maintain & Identify product development opportunities and concepts**:
- Maintains Alterna’s existing product line pricing structures, strategies and tactics to meet changing environment, customer preferences and revenue targets.
- Ensure products and programs are competitively priced and constantly monitor volumes and key drivers to improve results.
- Analyze industry trends, competitive reviews and customer needs. Develop an understanding of key consumer and market segments.
- Identify product enhancements and new initiatives that support the corporate strategy and document these through assessments. business cases and proposals.
- Works with Treasury and Credit Risk to ensure profitability goals, customer need and that credit decisions optimize risk/rewards
- Assist the Director, Products & Partnerships in setting the vision for Retail Credit products, understanding how it connects to Alterna’s goals.
- Assist the Director, Products & Partnerships in the development and maintenance of a 3-year product roadmap.
**Develop and deliver new products and solutions**:
- Create and maintain a tactical plan that supports the product development roadmap.
- Assess new product opportunities with internal stakeholders (Credit Risk, Adjudication, IT, ALCO, Marketing etc.)
**Development and execution of marketing and sales campaigns**:
- Support the planning, development and execution of sales campaigns.
- Working with Marketing and business partners, develop strategies, plans and tactics to promote credit product growth across all channels (Branch, Digital Bank, Online, Contact Centre).
**Business Planning and Measurement**:
- Evaluate the performance of the product portfolio including forecasting business volume, revenue and expenses.
- Supports the product management budget for specific products to ensure objectives can be achieved within budget and meets or exceeds profit and loss goals
- Assist in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), business reports and product sales/profitability reports for both senior management and branch audiences.
- Identify gaps and recommend actions to close gaps using product mix and business development tactics.
**Product knowledge and operational effectiveness**:
- Lead development of customer facing communications, tools and resources: brochures, collateral, tools/calculators, web content etc.
- Participates in training design with the training department and others to educate appropriate staff on all credit products.
- Support the development of product knowledge/training strategies and support tools/resources for Branch and Back Office.
- Maintain effective product vendor relationships for outsourced products and services.
- Product forms and agreements. Lead and manage content for customer facing credit forms and agreements. Obtain input and sign-off from cross-functional areas./ stakeholder / content experts (legal and compliance) as required.
- Act as a key support for the implementation of new products, product enhancements and initiatives. (eg. provide support in the sales, marketing and delivery areas.)
- Participate, as content expert, in the development of any customer experience design work, training material and communication material by providing guidance and expertise to other employees.
**Expectations / Outcomes**
- Alterna’s retail credit product lines are viewed as competitive and meets or exceeds customer needs.
- Performance Agreement measures are met as they relate to retail credit:
- Financial (e.g. Net FUM)
- Customer Engagement (loyalty and depth of relationship)
- Credit product offerings are compliant with industry regulations and Alterna policy.
- Creative thinking, open minded and consultative approach in the design of product solutions.
- Professional individual presentation in dealing with alliance partners and external stakeholders.
- Support a work environment that promotes a positive member and employee experience, quality, efficiencies and effectiveness.
