The key accountabilities for this role are: - Planning, analysis and reporting of the Bank’s operating expenses as well as Corporate Functions’ support expense allocations. - Ongoing maintenance and support related to the Bank’s central expense policies including global meal, mileage and hotel rates and acting as the Bank’s SME for expense policies **Key Accountabilities** - Expense Planning & Analysis: - Assist with the coordination and preparation of Corporate Functions’ consolidated reporting (monthly, quarterly, forecasts and plans) including value added variance analysis and commentaries - Assist with the coordination and preparation of the monthly operating expense reasonability review and analysis. - Prepare quarterly Expense Bluebook slides - Assist with building of new financial models and further enhance and automate existing reporting processes - Assist with ad-hoc expense analysis/trending, reporting and processes - Recommend cost savings initiatives and process improvements - Expense Policy: - Ongoing review of policies with key stakeholders to ensure information is up to date and relevant following the established governance process. - Maintenance of the central website maintained on Scotiabank Live. - Drafting policy exceptions where required. - Responding to inquiries received through the expense policy inbox. - Act as the key SME for Bank-wide initiatives that require input from the Expense Policy team **Experience / Education**: - University degree in business or similar discipline. - A professional accounting designation, MBA or similar post secondary education is considered an asset. - Excellent research and critical thinking skills. - Understanding of basic accounting principles/procedures and management reporting. - Excellent relationship building, influencing and customer services skills to build effective partnerships. - Results focused with the ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations to sometimes complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues. - A strategic mind set with the ability to multi-task and deliver high quality results under very tight deadlines. - Strong attention to accuracy and details, highly organized and able to work independently through obstacles. - Experience working with multi-stakeholder processes considered an asset. - Experience designing and communicating policy and procedural documents considered an asset.
