We are currently seeking a professional, experienced Payroll Lead to provide accounting/finance support to the Accounting/ Finance Team and Head Office, reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance.

Portfolio Focus:

- Full Cycle Payroll processing
- Leading a team of payroll support personnel
- Data Entry / Processing

**General Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership for full cycle payroll functions across all business lines of the Kandor Group of Companies
- Capable of administering semi-monthly payroll for a high volume (over 1500) of employees, including hourly and salaried, within multi-provincial locations
- Must understand payroll taxes across Canada and union agreements
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable federal and provincial tax legislation
- Ensure regulatory compliance with union agreements
- Investigate and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner
- Ensure payroll for all staff is authorized, verified, and processed accurately and in a timely manner. This includes reviewing payroll batches for correct calculation (OT, Stat worked, Stat not worked, etc.) for all sites
- Import batches & transmit payroll utilizing accounting software and review processed payroll & distribute pay stubs to appropriate locations
- Calculate and generate manual payroll cheques (missed hours, terminations, vacation etc.), and enter related entries into the payroll system
- Deliver timely and outstanding customer service to enquiries from internal and external parties regarding payroll matters.
- Prepare and perform payroll related journal entries and account reconciliations (payroll clearing, employee receivable, benefit accounts)
- Manage payroll system implementations and upgrades, as applicable
- Advance the effectiveness of payroll services by implementing improved, standardized processes related to planning and data driven decision making
- Provide leadership, advice, and recommendations for payroll solutions to management
- Oversee payroll function and train accounting support to assist with payroll duties

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Ideal for new designated CPM or someone who is pursuing a CPM
- 3-5 years' experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong knowledge of federal and provincial/state regulations, Employee Standard Act and CRA rules;
- Previous experience with managing payroll for unions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organization, time management and prioritization skills;
- A high degree of professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential materials;
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle high work volumes.
- Strong interpersonal skills (written and verbal communication)
- Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, accounting and payroll software)
- Experience with Winteam is ideal or other accounting and ERP technologies

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
