Anti-racism Implementation Specialist

Pay range: $33 - $42 / hour

As part of the Holland Bloorview team, this role will help fulfill the hospital’s strategic plan and priorities, described in Holland Bloorview 2030. This includes creating the most meaningful and healthy futures for all children, youth and families. This will be achieved in an academic health sciences centre, with a focus on client and family-centered, high quality and safe care, and a commitment to research, teaching, and advancing best practices in pediatric rehabilitation.
Reporting to the Manager, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Anti-Racism (IDEAA), the Anti-Racism Implementation Specialist will bring broad knowledge and expertise around Anti-Racism concepts and practices, with high-functioning program implementation and evaluation experience. There will be strong focus on driving the hospital’s interventions to meaningfully confront anti-Black racism, as well as demonstrating a broad understanding of the intersections between racism and ableism. They will be responsible for both leading and consulting on program implementation, as well as consulting with various teams on their commitments within the hospital’s annual IDEAA work plan. The program implementation support will be focused on employees, clients and families, students and trainees, and volunteers alike.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
Supports the Manager IDEAA with the planning, implementation, delivery and monitoring of anti-racism related initiatives
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders/divisions to support the design and delivery of anti-racism education, training and awareness-raising sessions and related program initiatives.
- Consults with various teams on clinical and non-clinical program design, development and evaluation with a focus on anti-racism and addressing the social determinants of health (SDoH).
- Plans and implements assigned initiatives
- Prepares routine communications, generates reports, and presents status updates to relevant hospital committees.
- Prepares necessary resources and tools based on emerging and best practices, to support the successful implementation of anti-racism initiatives including education workshops and team consultations
- Use a variety of delivery methods including, but not limited to, instructor-led learning (e.g., webinars, seminars, lectures, presentations, workshops, interactive labs) and self-directed learning (e.g., e-learning, readings, webcasts, simulations, job aids, user guides, activities). Related duties include processes and methods to set up a psychologically safe learning environment and providing learner feedback.

- Manages projects, information and logistics of project deliverables, including the hospital’s annual Anti-Racism Learning Series
**MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES**
**Education**
- Masters degree preferred in relevant field or discipline (e.g., equity studies, human rights, sociology, social work, adult education, disability studies) or; equivalent combination of education and employment experience
**Anti-Racism Expertise & Knowledge**
- Experience addressing racism and its intersections at all levels (e.g., interpersonal, structural etc.) and understand the traumatic impacts of racism on employee mental health and well-being in the workplace.
- Experience analyzing, developing and implementing policies, programs and initiatives using Anti-Racist theories and principles, human rights and anti-oppression frameworks in healthcare.
- Basic knowledge of relevant legislation e.g., Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and Anti-Racism Act
- Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, Findings from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women
**Skills & Experience**
- Ability to lead advisory and consultation processes involving staff, external partners and community members, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Proven experience within or outside health care settings partnering with diverse multi-racial equity-seeking groups/ communities.
- Minimum five (5) years of recent, in-depth work experience in project management, community development and/or strategic planning.
- Comfort in collecting, interpreting and using data as part of design processes and decision-making

- Experience providing project coordination, guidance and team support for implementation of multiple projects and initiatives.
