Under the general direction of the Manager of Fleet Maintenance Services for the Winnipeg Fleet Management Agency, the Supervisor of Major Repair Facility is responsible for the direction and management of the Major Repair Facility. Serving a number of user groups and Civic departments, the primary objective is to direct and coordinate the activities and tasks of the repair facility to provide quality maintenance and repairs for the large fleet of diversified City owned and leased equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner.

**As the** **Supervisor of Major Repair Facility** **you will**:

- Manage the daily operation of the Major Repair Facility.
- Provide direction, supervision and advice to the facility supervisory staff, trades and non-trade personnel.
- Prepare annual facility budget, control expenditures and monitor revenues.
- Attend and participate in various meetings.
- Administer City and legislated policies and procedures.
- Organize the hiring, discipline, grievance, and training needs for the facility.
- Communicate orally and in writing with customers.
- Be required to act as on call Duty Supervisor.
- Establish and develop programs to ensure shop productivity standards are attained.
- Schedule staff vacations and other leaves.
- Have overall responsibility for administering City of Winnipeg Attendance Management policy and counsel employees on attendance expectations as required.
- Investigate and address customer complaints and prepares reports/recommendations for corrective action.
- Participate as management representative in the Workplace Health & Safety Committee.
- Required to act as Manager of Fleet Maintenance Services as required.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Completion of grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Possess and maintain an Interprovincial Journeyman Trade Certificate.
- Completion of Industrial Supervision Certificate or an equivalent combination of education and training.
- Minimum 4 years’ current experience in a light and heavy vehicle repair facility.
- Experience supervising, managing and leading employees with progressive leadership responsibility.
- Experience working in a large, unionized environment.
- Knowledge of the Mandatory Manitoba Government Inspection Program.
- Ability to multi-task and organize work efficiently while under pressure and react quickly to emergency situations or changing priorities of a large major repair facility.
- Broad technical knowledge and competence in the Heavy Duty/Truck Transport/Off Road/Ag/Automotive Mechanics Field.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to prepare and write accurate reports and documentation.
- Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with an Automated Fleet Management System is preferred.
- Ability to analyze problems, develop and implement solutions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety hazards and precautions.
- Ability for designing and implementing new strategies/technologies top generate overall efficiencies to improve the operation of the facility or business.

**Conditions of employment**:

- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Must have a valid Manitoba Class 1, 2 or 3 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement or the ability to obtain it within 1 year of employment start date.
- Possess and maintain an Interprovincial Journeyman Trade Certificate.
