**Shop Supervisor**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Reporting to the Equipment Manager, East Division, the Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing OWS fleet maintenance and day to day fleet activities, as well as supervising staff.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

Responsible for managing Road and Rail OWS fleet of 200+ trucks (ie. hi-rail, boom trucks, light trucks, etc.).

Familiar with federal/provincial government regulations, Transport Canada obligations, and safety policies.

Complies with OH&S safety standards.

Generate savings through managing fuel consumption, repair/maintenance, and bulk purchasing.

Maintains physical conditions of fleet by planning and implementing inspections; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.

Achieves financial objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

Consolidating Eastern fleet capital allocation process by working with regional teams at a detailed level.

Maintains fleet staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.

Maintains fleet staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshop; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Perform other duties as required.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Strong computer skills are required with proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Demonstrated customer service focus
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment; self motivated
- Effective and proven organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a high pressure and demanding work environment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Demonstrate ability to perform maturely and professionally ensuring complete confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically, act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make decisions

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- 2-5 years of prior experience in fleet management
- 310S and/or 310T trades license, as asset
- 421A heavy duty mechanic license, an asset
- Experience working within the transport industry in the fields of safety records management/shipping (strong asset)
- Fleet experience with 300+ vehicles, safety management, developing standards, managing processes, reporting skills, analyzing information, equipment maintenance
- Experience in dealing with ministry of transportation in Ontario
- Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Able to take the initiative to liaise with other departments and/or external sources
- Excellent customer service focus, with an ability to work collaboratively with others
- Work effectively in a team environment as a contributing team player
