We are seeking a highly skilled English tutor with strong expertise in literature and writing to provide tutoring for high school students in **English 20-1 and English 30-1** under the **Alberta Curriculum**. The tutor will help students improve their reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, and critical thinking skills to ensure their academic success and thorough preparation for the **Diploma Exam**.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide **personalized tutoring** for students in English 20-1 and 30-1 according to the **Alberta high school curriculum**.
- Guide students in **analyzing literary works**, including novels, plays, poetry, and nonfiction texts.
- Help students enhance their **writing skills**, including argumentative essays, personal responses, and literary analyses.
- Explain **key literary concepts**, such as themes, symbolism, narrative techniques, and rhetorical devices.
- Train students in **critical reading and writing skills** to prepare for the **Diploma Exam**.
- Assess students' progress and provide **detailed feedback**.
- Offer learning strategies to help students build **confidence and independent thinking**.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in **English, Education, Literature, or a related field**.
- Strong knowledge of the **Alberta English 20-1 / 30-1 curriculum** and its **exam requirements**.
- Extensive experience in **English writing and literary analysis**.
- At least **one year of teaching or tutoring experience** at the high school level (preference given to those with **Diploma Exam tutoring experience**).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to **patiently guide students** through complex literary concepts.
- Strong sense of **responsibility** and the ability to develop **customized learning plans** based on student needs.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $45.00-$50.00 per hour
