**AREA**:Food Services
**CLASSIFICATION**: Utility Worker - 1 PFT Position
**POSITION SCOPE**:
This position, reporting to the Food Services Coordinator, is responsible for the performance of dish-room, including sanitary washing of dishes; dining-room, including serving clients within a cafeteria style and kitchen tasks within the facility including, pre-prep of vegetables and sandwich making. All tasks are performed safely, with attention to hygiene standards and per established food handling standards.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Grade 12. Experience working in food service industry is required. Food handling course an asset. Ability to withstand the physical nature of the job including standing, bending, kneeling, and the lifting and moving of heavy and awkward objects. Accountable for own practices, including absenteeism and punctuality.
**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Maintains and promotes health and safety standards and procedures according to KRRC guidelines.
- Must hold in confidence all matters pertaining to clients, staff and the KRRC.
- Promotes and maintains good working relationships and communications within the facilities, with other program personnel and with clients and the general public.
- Contributes in activities related to the operation of food services by performing duties including, but not limited to:
Dish Room
- Washes dishes in accordance with established procedures.
- De-stains dishes and silverware as required.
- Responsible for the safe operation and cleaning of the dishwasher.
- Cleans trays, utility carts, kitchen tables, and racks as required.
Dining Room
- Works as a member of a collaborative team with other Food Services Staff.
- Sets up client trays as required.
- Portions desserts, and sets up line for service.
- Serves meals to staff and clients in cafeteria in accordance with established procedures.
- Delivers and collects trays to units.
- Fills requisitions for unit/program supplies and catering as required.
- Cleans cafeteria equipment and tools as scheduled.
Kitchen
- Prepares foods as directed.
- Participates in putting away supplies.
- Washes pots, pans, equipment and maintains neat and clean work area.
- Maintains cleanliness of fridges, freezers and other areas in accordance with schedule.
- Participates in a team approach by attending meetings, in-services and other training programs.
- Ensures the continued integrity of the program by maintaining quality control standards, assisting in orientation of new employees, supporting fellow workers where possible and appropriate, and maintaining appropriate records, statistics, progress notes, inventories and other related data as required.
- Complies with the Quality Management Program by keeping up-to-date on developments in food services and by participating in the continual development of the program and its personnel.
- Promotes the mission of quality care by performing any other related tasks and duties that may be assigned or required, in order to maintain proficient work-flows.
**SALARY SCALE**: As per collective agreement
**HOURS OF WORK**: 75.00 hours bi-weekly
Pay: $20.29 per hour
