**Reporting to**: Gift Shop Assistant Manager, Retail Site Manager

**Type**: Part-time

**Hours**:Monday to Friday, flexibility between 8:30am and 5:30pm
** Who were looking for**

We are seeking a skilled Retail Sales Associate to join our Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association Retail team on a part time basis in the Give shop at the Juravinski Hospital.

**What you'll do**
- Provides excellence in customer service by welcoming our customers in a warm and friendly manner, sharing product knowledge with them, developing partnerships with our regular customers and provides quick efficient service at the cash area
- Effectively operates the POS system with mínimal cash variances
- Effectively operates the OLG lottery terminal and balances to the POS terminal
- Balances break open ticket sales with mínimal ticket variances
- Balances cash tray before and after each shift
- Receives and accurately price stickers new product
- Assists with merchandizing and cleans shop displays
- Understands and follows shop procedures
- Works with the sales team to be part of an efficient, motivated and cohesive team
- Follows loss prevention procedures, ensures and maintains shop security at all times
- Participates in physical inventories and spot checks as needed
- Communicates customer requests and concerns and any suggestions to improve the success of the shop to the Assistant Manager
- Works scheduled shifts
- Makes helping the customers with their buying decisions the top priority using suggestive selling techniques.
- Performs other specific duties as directed by the Assistant Manager or Retail Site Manager

**What you bring**
- Excellent customer service skills including strong verbal communication skills, exhibit good manners, proper personal hygiene, and bring a positive enthusiastic attitude.
- The ability to perform under pressure, stand for long periods of time, lift up to 25 lbs. and have good time management skills.
- The ability to move and respond quickly to various requests and commands, and communicate clearly and effectively with customers and co-workers
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, outgoing and enjoys interacting with people
- Contributes to a positive team atmosphere in the shop
- Previous retail and OLG lottery experience is preferred

**Conditions of employment**
- Health Clearance from Employee Health through Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS), which includes the requirement to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, inclusive of any booster shots, unless a Hamilton Health Sciences exemption is provided.
- Having and maintaining work authorization that does not require sponsorship to work in Canada.

The Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association is a non-profit organization that supports patient care at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) through the operation of cafes, cafeterias, parking facilities, gift shops and retail services across the organization. To clarify, we are not Hamilton Health Sciences, but rather a separate organization that works within the hospitals to generate profits to donate back to HHS to enhance patient care.
