We are currently seeking **two** experienced, safety-conscious **Shop Foremen** to join our team:
- On-Road Shop Foreman to oversee and support maintenance of our fleet of road vehicles.
- Off-Road Shop Foreman to manage repairs and upkeep for heavy-duty off-road equipment.
Both positions are based at our **Fath West Shop in Acheson, Alberta**, ensuring smooth, efficient, and high-quality operations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Diagnostics and Repairs**
- Supervise technicians to ensure productivity and adherence to standards. Collaborate with field foremen and supervisors to schedule routine and breakdown maintenance of equipment.
- Mentor heavy equipment technicians on best practices for safe job procedures, diagnostics, troubleshooting flow processes, and parts sourcing.
- Conduct job cost analysis to determine the most suitable course of action for repair, refurbishment, retirement, or replacement of equipment. Work closely with field customers to prioritize equipment repairs efficiently.
- Ensure that our west maintenance facility adheres to all regulations regarding commercial vehicle inspection. This includes ensuring that tools and shop equipment are properly calibrated and maintained in good working condition at all times
- Participate in job cost analysis to determine repair, refurbish, retire, or replace decisions.
- Assist procurement in sourcing parts, organizing inventory, and managing transportation and cleaning processes.
- Utilize strong computer skills to manage work orders in eMaint and aid mechanics in fulfilling them.
- Provide competence training on shop tools and equipment and offer creative solutions when faced with challenging problems.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize and complete repair tasks in a timely manner.
**Safety and Compliance**
- Participate in safety training programs and contribute to ongoing efforts to improve safety practices in the workplace.
- Manage shop safety through toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, incident reports, and first aid response.
- Monitor safety training requirements, renewals, and shop audits, analyzing safety performance data and implementing safety programs as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
**Quality Assurance**
- Ensure the quality and integrity of repairs by conducting thorough inspections and quality control checks.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in the repair and maintenance workflow.
- Oversee all repairs to ensure quality control and develop recommendations to enhance equipment and mechanical efficiencies. Utilize contacts and resources to source equipment when necessary
- Take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and superior customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
**Communication and Documentation**
- Manage warranty work and manufacturer recalls, maintaining a close communication link with customers throughout the process.
- Maintain clear and concise communication with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders regarding repair progress, parts requirements, and job status.
- Accurately document repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and work performed, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to apprentices and junior technicians as needed.
- Foster strong communication with other divisions to ensure the best service possible, especially during busy seasons like sweeper season
- Monitor safety training requirements, renewals, and conduct shop audits. Analyze safety performance data and implement necessary safety programs to ensure a safe working environment
**Qualifications & Skills**:
- Journeyman/Red Seal Heavy Duty Technician’s license.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in heavy-duty equipment maintenance.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with handheld devices and scanners.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (willing to undergo additional training provided by the company).
