The Pathologist Assistant is an intensively trained Allied Health Professional who provides technical assistance and support in autopsy and surgical pathology to aid in the diagnosis of disease, treatment protocols and research.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Perform gross description and dissection of surgical tissues, which includes selection, preparation and submission of samples for histologic examination.
Assist in autopsy services to set up and perform postmortem examinations.
Assist in teaching as required to pathology residents and medical students.
Coordinate storage, retention and disposal of tissue specimens.
Performs other functions necessary for providing anatomic pathology services.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Medical/Science Degree graduate or general CMLTO/CSMLS registration or equivalent related to the field of anatomy and pathology.
Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in the discipline: demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, dissection techniques and practices in surgical and autopsy pathology.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, quality control and quality assurance techniques, safety and regulatory standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent teaching, team-building, problem solving, conflict management and customer service skills.
Demonstrated commitment to professional development, flexibility in responding to changing priorities and directions.
Good attendance record required.
