Our story began in the summer of 1994 when our founder taught 50 kids to swim in his parents’ backyard pool where Making Waves Swim School was born It wasn’t a sophisticated business however, it gave us the freedom to focus on what mattered most - our student’s progress in the pool, connecting with families and giving back to our community.

Now, over thirty years later, we have five locations in Brampton, Milton, Mississauga, Vaughan and Guelph and teach over 8,000 students per week in learn-to-swim programs. Our award-winning water safety programs have produced thousands of confident swimmers, while staying true to the care, enthusiasm and passion put into that first summer.

**The Role**:
As a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all Making Wave Swimming School locations. This role involves routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of infrastructure and equipment to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of our facilities. You will have strong experience in HVAC systems, pool chemistry, and mechanical systems, along with the ability to perform minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, pools, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and ensure safety standards are met.
- Assess infrastructure for repair or replacement requirements, reporting findings to the Manager of Maintenance.

**Repair and Maintenance**:

- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing (e.g., faucet replacements, emergency leak fixes), carpentry (e.g., door repairs, drywall work), and painting.
- Troubleshoot and maintain HVAC and dehumidification systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Operate and troubleshoot water pumps up to 7 HP, ensuring efficient function.
- Manage and monitor pool chemistry, with a preference for experience in public and community pool systems.

**Coordination**:

- Coordinate additional maintenance tasks as determined by facility inspections or as assigned by the Manager of Maintenance.
- Liaise with external contractors for specialized tasks such as electrical work, carpentry, and other technical repairs. Be available to respond to and resolve emergency maintenance issues promptly and effectively, ensuring mínimal disruption to operations.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the industry.
- Certification as a Trades Electro-mechanical technician, or extensive experience in lieu of certification.

**Technical Skills**:

- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including low-voltage systems.
- Proficiency in HVAC system operations and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of pool chemistry and water pump operations.

**Additional Skills**:

- Ability to perform minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
- Experience with drywall repair and painting is a strong asset.

**Soft Skills**:

- Ability to work under pressure, especially during emergency situations.
- Team player, positive attitude with the aptitude to learn on the job.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate tasks with other team members and external contractors.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- The role may require working outside of normal business hours to address urgent maintenance needs.
- The position involves physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to travel to facility locations within GTA visiting daily, weekly basis
- Valid Driver’s license and vehicle

**HOURS**
- 40 hours per week / Monday
- Friday, Weekends
- Ability to be available for on-call shifts/ Emergency calls
