We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a **Mortgage Underwriter/Personal Banker. **Reporting to the Director, Member Relations & Corporate Culture, the Mortgage Underwriter/Personal Banker plays a critical role on the member service team. This position provides members with retail lending solutions including residential mortgages, personal loans, lines of credit, credit card approvals, and RRSP loans. It is expected that this position will “pitch in” and support other areas within our Branch operations. Building relationships, identifying member needs, and cross-selling lending and deposit products and services are integral to this role.
**Responsibilities**
- Act as an ambassador for Luminus both internally and externally to promote the Luminus brand
- Interview loan and mortgage applicants, analyze financial information, assess credit and adjudicate loans and mortgages within discretionary limits and/or make recommendations for approvals/declines to appropriate next level
- Act as the primary resource for opening new accounts and effectively manages the member-owner on-boarding process
- Process appropriate documents associated with the sale of savings and investment products
- Identify opportunities to promote, up sell, and cross sell the credit union credit products and partner products
- Support and uphold a team-based work environment that includes cross-functional support for deposit/investment and other areas
- Participate in outbound calling programs
- As required, represent the credit union in the community by participating in/organizing local business activities and community functions.
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of 3-5 years lending experience at a financial institution as a loans officer/personal banker or equivalent
- A related degree/ diploma or other relevant post-secondary training
- A solid understanding of retail loans and mortgages (including self-employed and other unique situations)
- A proven track record of providing excellent customer service and meeting sales targets
- Strong interpersonal skills with a team orientation
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Bondable
