SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Director, Sustainability, the incumbent supports the development, enhancement and maintenance of the climate and environmental strategy ,associated programs and initiatives, as well as, implementation across all business lines. This is a global role that works collaboratively with all of Cogeco’s operations across Canada and the United States in order to ensure effective operationalization and monitoring of climate and environmental-related initiatives and projects (e.g. energy conservation and efficiency, waste, biodiversity, audits, reporting etc.). This position supports the development of a corporate culture that emphasizes the management of our top climate and environmental-related risks and opportunities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compile the Annual Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory for the business inclusive of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with the GHG Protocol; and manage the third party annual GHG limited assurance engagement.- Manage Cogeco’s Climate and environmental-related risks and opportunities in collaboration with the enterprise risk management team; in line with climate scenario analysis efforts where appropriate and with specific focus on financial quantification of risks and opportunities.- Support the development of the climate and environmental strategy, based on the priorities defined by management. Enhance the strategy to include just transition principles, climate change adaptation and mitigation considerations and nature positivity.- Manage Cogeco’s Near-Term Science Based Targets and Net Zero Plan, as well as, associated submissions and reporting to SBTi and Net Zero Challenge (ECCC).- Demonstrate leadership in supporting the operationalization of Cogeco’s decarbonization levers by the Business Units to meet our science-based targets by 2030 and 2050.- Lead the Energy Conservation and Efficiency Committee focused on fleet fuel efficiency, fleet electrification, as well as, building and network-related energy conservation and efficiency.- Support our renewable energy procurement initiatives e.g. Virtual Power Purchase Agreements.- Manage the curation of an Annual Climate Action Plan and TCFD Report which outlines Cogeco’s decarbonization efforts.- Compile the annual Carbon Disclosure Project report submission with special attention to annual improvement opportunities.- Develop and maintain Cogeco’s Waste Management Program- Develop and maintain Cogeco’s Biodiversity Management Program- Manage and enhance Cogecos’ Annual Environmental Building Audit Program- Develop, compile and monitor climate and environmental-related performance metrics.- Support the curation of responses to stakeholder inquiries.- Support the sustainability engagement plan from a climate and environmental perspective which focuses on building employee competency on Cogeco’s Sustainability program.This includes developing, updating and deploying training when necessary.- Support the preparation of presentations for quarterly Sustainability Steering Committee meetings and follow up on the action items raised.- Keep abreast of all federal, provincial and local climate-related requirements and closely monitor developments and changes.- Monitor best practices in the telecommunications and media industry to identify opportunities for improvement as they relate to climate and environmental sustainability.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
ACADEMIC TRAINING- Bachelor's degree in applied sciences or in a field related to sustainable development or the environment. A combination of academic training and relevant work experience would be desirable.

WORK EXPERIENCE- At least 8 years of experience, in particular 5 years of work experience in sustainability-related roles.- Experience in GHG Accounting, specifically preparing a GHG Inventory (Scope 1, 2 and 3) in line with the GHG Protocol; Carbon Disclosure Project report preparation and submission, TCFD-aligned report preparation and climate scenario analysis, as well as, Net Zero Planning.- Experience using or implementing an ESG reporting SaaS Solution is considered an asset.- Experience operationalizing decarbonization efforts.- Experience with Environmental Management Systems (e.g. ISO14001:2015) considered an asset.

SPECIFIC SKILLS- Excellent stakeholdering skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences as well as influence.- Excellent attention to detail regarding data management and strong ability to analyze data and trends.- Excellent oral and written communication skills, in English (French would be an asset) to work in collaborations with all Cogeco’s operations across Cana
