We see dogs, cats, and small pocket pets. We are a close-knit professional team that are passionate about our patient health and focused on providing excellent patient care. We are looking for a pet - and people-person who is passionate for the cause of great pet care and has good persuasive skills to convince the pet-parents the importance of excellent preventative care for their pets. The individual should be a fast learner and a good team player. Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities / Position Overview: This is general overview of the main reason for this position and key duties. Scope of how the position contributes to and impacts the organization. Principal Responsibilities: Describe what position will do, not how it is done. Major responsibilities and target accomplishments expected of the position including the typical problems encountered in carrying out the responsibilities. Ideally in bullet format with action verbs, i.e. develops, controls, coordinates, implements, monitors, etc. It’s helpful to consider what percentage of time each of the responsibilities utilize. - Preparing and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas. - Assisting the doctor in medical and surgical procedures by preparing patients for surgery, assists in administering anesthesia, monitors patients during surgery and post-op recovery, and administers fluids. - Administering injections and oral medications in accordance with hospital policy and patient’s needs. - Performing emergency procedures such as control of bleeding, resuscitation with oxygen, opening obstructed airways, and external cardiac massage. - Assists in restraining patients when necessary. - Performs various laboratory procedures, such as, and not limited to, fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, urinalysis, and blood samples for laboratory analysis. - Maintaining appropriate lab test results and ensuring that test results are recorded in patient file records. - Produce diagnostic radiographs, collecting samples, and performing other laboratory tests are required to provide best patient care - Consulting and counselling clients on various aspects of animal care with appropriate explanations of dosage and purpose of medications, reinforces the proper care and procedures for home care, and follow-up check-in calls with clients. - Maintains and cleans all surgical materials after usage, while keeping operating room properly stocked with appropriate inventory of medical supplies and prepared for surgery. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The knowledge, skills, ability and attitudes required for satisfactory job performance - Written and conversational English is beneficial, along with additional languages to serve a diverse pet-parent clientele.
