We have an immediate opening for a Shop Assistant in the Hangar for the Langley Operations Department. This position will report to the Manager, Operations Sr. and will be based in the

Langley facility. This position will be for a 1-year contract.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Tools, Shop equipment maintenance
- 5S shop inspection
- Keep the shop clean, tidy and organized including tool and parts control
- Chemical room titration, maintenance
- Blasting room service, maintenance
- Daily and weekly tool checks
- Develop work methods, procedures, and standards, if necessary
- Wear appropriate clothing and safety equipment for the job
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and promote a safe working environment
- Placing basic parts orders
- Lifting, cleaning and various other physical tasks as directed

Applicable competencies, aptitudes and qualifications:

- High school or technical school
- Valid BC drivers’ licence
- Forklift experience
- Minimum one (1) year experience with maintenance and inspection processes, preferred
- Understand ISO/Audit compliance
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and knowledge of general maintenance systems
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Willing to work some overtime, if required

Position Requirements:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to stand a minimum of 8 hours per day and walk long distances.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, crawl, and climb ladders in order to work on areas in the facility that are difficult to access.
- Must be able to think clearly, and speak intelligibly on the telephone and in person.
- Must be able to manipulate equipment of all sizes, tools, computer keyboards, and telephones.
- Must be able to drive and operate all rolling stock, including forklifts and lifting devices.
- Must be able to work outside in the inclement weather.
- Must be able to see to assemble/disassemble, visually inspect, and read maintenance manuals.
- Must be able to hear to detect the sources of problems.
- Must have excellent hand-to-eye coordination
