Truck Driver Safety Specialist

Responsible for recruitment/hiring and selection process by testing the driver applicants and ensuring the prospect is capable of fulfilling the requirements for the Owner Operator/Driver.
- Conduct the Driver Orientation before the Driver is initially dispatched. Orientation includes safe driving procedures and professionalism; reporting pre-trip and post-trip inspections; reporting accidents; reporting incidents; maintenance requirements; logbook requirements and procedures; including, using the supplied handheld device.
- Conduct pre-hire road tests to ensure that the driver has the ability to control and maneuver the assigned truck in a safe and controlled manner.
- Work with dispatch, maintenance and accounting managers to identify current and future needs so recruitment efforts are proactive to ensure that the driver has all the necessary skills to meet our customers requirements.
- Assist in investigating accidents/Incidents involving drivers for the purpose of improving driver safety procedures and complying with established guidelines.
- Maintain electronic files and records for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing up-to-date information and an audit trail for regulatory purposes.
- Create reports (e.g. recruiting activity reports, training handouts, safety information guidelines, driver evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or training materials to management and drivers.
- Assist in training/retraining and testing for the purpose of ensuring compliance with policies and established regulatory requirements throughout the network.
- Ensure all drivers are winter ready and are trained to make sound judgments in hazardous winter conditions.
- Monitor driver performance and provide proper remedial action when required to ensure company goals are met.
**Salary**: $16.50-$24.00 per hour
