**Description**:
An introduction to the main philosophical traditions of South Asia, focusing on their historical development and treatment of topics such as devotion, duty, ethics, consciousness, selfhood, suffering, meditation, enlightenment, knowledge, and reality. Readings may include the early Rig Veda, the Upanishads, early Buddhist thought, Jainism, Samkhya-Yoga Philosophy, and Classical Vedanta, among others.

**Salary**:$9,820.70 (Sessional Lecturer 1) includes 4% vacation pay
$10,510.04 (Sessional Lecturer 1 - Long Term) includes 6% vacation pay

$10,760.28 (Sessional Lecturer 2 - Long Term) includes 6% vacation pay

**Schedule**:
Tuesday 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Thursday 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

**Delivery Mode**: In-Person

**Estimated TA Support**: TBD

**Qualifications**:

- PhD in-hand, preferably in philosophy.
- Prior experience as a course instructor, preferably in Philosophy at U of T.
- Related research and a record of research achievement is considered an asset to this position.

**Duties and responsibilities**:All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.

**Appointment Dates**: January 1, 2026 - April 30, 2026

**Note**: All positions involve completion of any course grading not already finished by April, 2026.
