**Blue Hat Bakery-Café and Bistro **at **Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts** is looking for a **Barista/Event Server **to work in our full-service café and event space. The qualified applicant should have serving experience and be available to between 20 - 35 hours a week for our evening events along with hours in the café.

The **barista duties** includes:

- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks
- Take customer orders and provide exceptional customer service
- Operate espresso machines and other café equipment to make beverages according to established recipes and quality standards
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of work area, equipment, and utensils
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
- Maintain inventory of supplies and restock as needed
- Follow all food safety and handling procedures
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the coffee shop
- Other duties as assigned

The **Event Server duties** includes:

- Greeting private event participants
- Serving food and beverages
- Setting up table and room for service
- Clearing tables, moving any tables and chairs as required
- Proper handling of all equipment before, during and after usage
- Other duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality
- Experience in preparing and serving coffee and food in a hospitality environment
- Excellent communication skills and enjoy working with the public
- Punctual, reliable and honest
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while keep calm under pressure and maintaining an attention to detail
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Basic math skills for cash handling and order processing
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the food industry
- Be able to lift up to 15kgs
- Serving It Right certificate
- Be able to legally work in Canada

**Blue Hat Bakery-Cafe & Bistro Event Space **is part of Vancouver's best professional culinary training institute, **Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts**. We boast a stunning, marina-side café and event space with views to the city and mountains. We are centrally located at the entrance of **Granville Island** and easily accessible via transit.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $16.75 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 35 per week
