Health Care Support Worker

**Job Summary**
The Support Worker plays a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities, seniors, and those requiring specialized care in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and hospice care. This position involves providing compassionate support to enhance the quality of life for clients while ensuring their safety and well-being. The Support Worker will engage in daily activities that promote independence and dignity for those they serve.
**Responsibilities**
- Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
- Support clients with mobility needs, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, following health and safety protocols.
- Document client progress and report any concerns to the supervising staff.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients.
**Skills**
- Experience working with persons with disabilities is highly valued.
- Knowledge of assisted living practices and senior care principles.
- Proficiency in meal preparation and understanding dietary restrictions.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs.
- Experience in nursing home settings is a plus.
- Understanding of dementia care techniques to support clients effectively.
- Strong caregiving skills that emphasize empathy, patience, and communication.
- Experience in hospice care is beneficial for providing end-of-life support.
